My short story, Warm-Blooded, has been adapted the incredible The Other Stories nonetheless – and it’s out now wherever you listen to podcasts!
James Morello works the night shift on a far away space station.
During one of his shifts, he realizes there’s something else out there with him in the vast emptiness.
I’ve been a fan of fiction podcasts for longer than I can remember, but I do remember that it was like a new world unfolded for me when I discovered that we could share and listen to stories like this. Of course, I was familiar with audiobooks, but with podcasts there’s a whole myriad of ways to share different kinds of stories, whether serialized, season-based short fiction, true crime and cold story investigations, mysterious retellings and fan fiction… it was eye opening! Now, The Other Stories wasn’t one the first ones I fell in love with, but man, I wish it was. The range and diversity of authors and stories is perfect for that easy-going, quick listening I so often need when I’m at work, cooking, going for a stroll or just chilling at home.
And of course, I wanted my piece of the cake. I’ve been writing short stories since I started writing books more than a decade ago and since the beginning I’ve submitted them to magazines, webzines, anthologies and collections to try and find a home for them. It’s only recently that I began looking for fitting podcasts – and now I’m finally part of that exclusive club of authors as well!
Warm-Blooded is a disturbing and atmospheric science fiction story about being all alone in the vast darkness of space. I hope you’ll give it a listen.
